IP Tools by grep.tools helps you inspect a network address without creating an account. An IP address can be personal information. This page describes the data processing implemented by this application and the infrastructure it depends on.
Automatic connection information
When you visit the site, Cloudflare receives your network request. In the trusted Workers production environment, the application reads the connection IP and available approximate location or network metadata from Cloudflare's request information. The application does not send this automatically detected visitor IP to a separate geolocation provider.
Responses containing visitor information are marked private, no-store to prevent shared caching. The application does not create a persistent visitor-IP database or a query-history feature, and its client code does not intentionally write full IP addresses to the browser console.
Addresses you choose to look up
When you explicitly submit a public address through IP Lookup or IP Location, the server may send that queried address to IPWHOIS.io through its HTTPS ipwho.is endpoint. That provider receives the queried address and the server's request. Private and special-purpose addresses are classified locally and do not need a provider query.
The provider has its own data practices and service limits. The queried address can belong to someone other than the person submitting it. Avoid submitting addresses when you do not want them to reach the provider.
Successful lookup results may be held in a bounded, temporary memory cache for up to five minutes to reduce repeated provider requests. This is a lookup-result cache, not an account history, and it is not stored in an application database.
Infrastructure, logs, and abuse prevention
Cloudflare and the hosting infrastructure may process request information, including IP addresses, for traffic delivery, security, diagnostics, and service operation. Their settings and retention policies apply. We do not claim that an IP address is never recorded anywhere in the delivery chain.
The lookup service uses short-window request limits to reduce abuse. Where a caller identifier is used for this purpose, it is hashed rather than placed in an application query-history record. This does not remove Cloudflare's own processing of the underlying request.
Cookies, analytics, and preferences
The application does not include an advertising tracker, third-party analytics script, or account cookie. Your light or dark appearance preference is stored in your browser's local storage. You can clear it using your browser's site-data controls. Hosting or security services may have their own operational behavior.
